“Dance is the hidden language of the soul”.
Martha Graham
I’m Louisa and I started Collective Motion Dance in July 2019, after teaching dance for over 10 years in special, secondary and sixth form education.
As a painfully shy child, I know first hand the power dance can have on improving someone’s confidence and well-being.
For me, dance opened up a new world of possibilities and sparked my thirst for knowledge. After studying at my local dance schools, I completed my BA (hons) Dance Studies at Roehampton University, going on to teacher training and gaining my PGCE from The Royal Academy of Dance.
I am passionate about the way that dance can be used as a tool for building confidence, self expression and creativity, developing physical skills, bringing people together and improving well-being. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to explore their world through dance, which is why I strive to make dance accessible to all regardless of their age, gender or needs.
I currently run classes for dancers with additional needs online. These will be returning to Alton and Basingstoke from September.
I offer curricular and extra-curricular dance in Alton and Basingstoke primary and special schools. I can run CPD sessions for teachers wanting to build their knowledge of dance, choreograph for shows and competitions, lead holiday clubs and am available for children’s parties.
I also run early years classes; Stepping into Stories, for 1-5 year olds and their parent/carer in Basingstoke. I am excited to resume delivering these classes in nursery/pre-school settings in both Alton and Basingstoke from May.
